A long hard day .....

Today was a weird day!

The best part was setting up Skype and feeling like I was on a George Jetson phone talking to Edie.

I tried to get to the beach, but parking was impossible.  We gave up and headed home because we actually went to a BBQ earlier today.  Had a great time playing with a dog, a cat, and a bunny!

More importantly, I got to share with a lot of people today why I went into direct sales as an Independent Rep with North American Power.  Last fall I started researching how I could transition as a Program Analyst/Manager with a background in Supply Chain to a green job.  The sad reality I found was that they seem to only have positions for engineers, research and development, and sales.  All of the sales jobs seem to be commission based.  It makes sense since all of the company assets are in R&D.

I saw some ads for a few different companies looking for energy brokers.  There wasn't a bad company out there, but I chose to represent North American because I believe in the firm on so many levels. First and foremost they are the only company out there working with energy brokers who is an energy supplier and not a third party wholesaler of green energy.

Before I jumped in, they launched a program of social responsibility called Mission to Millions.  Simply, I liked the idea of saving money on my utilities bills AND having a dollar of my monthly bill go to a very reputable charity,

Then I learned I could set up a charity in a fundraiser and help them reach out to their supporters.  They would receive a monthly check for that organization.  This includes fundraising for organizations that are typically not non-profit status such as a team league that may want to defray costs for uniforms.

Then it got better, I learned the company was looking to promote a national program, allowing everyone to share in clean energy.  Then I learned it was happening July 16, 2011 just a few weeks away.

The next set of good surprises is that Deepak Chopra is on board, exited about a company that is this positive with promoting social responsibility, and all of the clean energy is MADE IN AMERICA CREATING AMERICAN JOBS.

I think this is a huge opportunity for everyone to start promoting positive change in the world.

Tomorrow, hopefully, I can get out the door and to the beach early enough before the parking lots fill up at the beach.   Fun and Joy!
